\u003cbr/\u003eSoldiers in Burundi have killed seven Hutu rebels they believe took part in an ambush  on the country's Roman Catholic archbishop.\u003cbr/\u003eA military spokesman in Burundi has admitted there's no proof the slain rebels were  behind the attack on the archbishop's car.\u003cbr/\u003eBut many believe the archbishop was killed for his criticism of Hutu and Tutsi  extremism and the Catholic church's efforts to organise peace talks between the Tutsi- dominated army and Hutu rebels.\u003cbr/\u003eArchbishop Joachim Ruhuna and a nun believed killed in the attack on Monday are still  missing, but the charred body of a second nun was found in a nearby hut.\u003cbr/\u003eThis is what remains of Archbishop Joachim Ruhuna's truck, which was ambushed 100  kilometres (60 miles) northeast of Bujumbura in Burundi.\u003cbr/\u003eSoldiers have killed seven Hutu rebels they believe took part in the ambush.\u003cbr/\u003eThe military and four survivors of the ambush are blaming the Hutu rebel group, Force  for the Defence of Democracy, for the ambush.\u003cbr/\u003eAuthorities originally thought that Archbishop Ruhuna and six other people were killed  when the truck was found burning following the ambush on Monday.\u003cbr/\u003eAlso in the truck were a church accountant, two female students and\u003cbr/\u003ethe driver -- all of whom were Hutus -- and two nuns who, like Ruhuna, were Tutsis.\u003cbr/\u003eThe driver, the first to be found alive, was brought to a local parish on Tuesday with two  gunshot wounds.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said the archbishop and the two nuns were shot in the initial gunfire, and that he  was shot when he tried to run away.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said the attackers took him and the other survivors to an abandoned house as  hostages.\u003cbr/\u003eThe students told investigators that a church deacon negotiated a release with the  rebels.\u003cbr/\u003eRuhuna and a nun believed killed in the attack are still missing, but the charred body of  the second nun, Sister Concessa Ndacikiriwe, was found in a nearby hut.\u003cbr/\u003eAt the national cathedral in Gitega on Wednesday a funeral was held for the nun.\u003cbr/\u003eOnly a few nuns and priests attended the subdued service.\u003cbr/\u003eMany believe Ruhuna and the nuns were killed for his criticism of Hutu and Tutsi  extremism and the Catholic church's efforts to organise peace talks between the Tutsi- dominated army and Hutu rebels.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, the search continues for clues, and the body of the top Roman Catholic  clergyman in Burundi and the second nun.\u003cbr/\u003ePriests canvassed villages on Saturday and about 50 soldiers searched the area, which  is known for rebel activity.\u003cbr/\u003eA memorial service and a national day of prayer for Ruhuna is scheduled for Tuesday  regardless of whether his body is recovered.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Pope is sending a high-ranking Cardinal to Burundi to attend the service.\u003cbr/\u003eThe hills around Bujumbura were quiet on Saturday, but residents say they heard  sporadic machine gun fire and grenade blasts in eastern Bujumbura throughout
