You know a comic has to make people laugh no matter what the hell's going on in life. There are days when I'm hysterical but nobody would ever pay me for it because I'm only funny when I feel like being funny but I can act no matter what and I could do that when I was two years old that's just my gag. Various of Blake feeding carrots to horse\u003cbr/\u003eA year after Robert Blake was acquitted in criminal court of killing his wife, the former tough guy actor spends his days exercising Arabian horses at a friend's ranch above the Pacific Ocean and planning his acting comeback.\u003cbr/\u003eIn November, a civil court jury found Blake liable for the death of his wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, and ordered him to pay her family 30 (m) million US dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eBlake, 72, acknowledges the past 12 months have often been a time of despair. \u003cbr/\u003eBut the actor who played the hard-boiled cop in the 1970s TV show \"Baretta\" says he has finally begun to emerge from that dark period.\u003cbr/\u003eBlake spoke to The Associated Press on Friday, the first interview he has granted since his civil trial concluded four months ago.\u003cbr/\u003e\"In the last year I've spent nights without sleep, wake up in the morning and just want to drive until the car goes off a cliff some place,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003e\"And an hour later, poetry is coming to me. officer in the former and a killer in the latter. \u003cbr/\u003eHe speaks of lessons learned from actors Spencer Tracy and Fred Astaire and \"In Cold Blood\" writer Truman Capote.\u003cbr/\u003eBlake met with the AP at a ranch where he said he is working as \"a stable boy.\" \u003cbr/\u003eBlake's wife was found shot to death in the actor's car in May 2001, outside a restaurant where the two had dined. \u003cbr/\u003eHe told police he had left her alone briefly while he retrieved a gun he carried for protection and had accidentally left behind in the restaurant.\u003cbr/\u003eA year after the killing, police arrested Blake for murder. \u003cbr/\u003eHe spent a year in jail awaiting trial until he was released on bail and placed on electronic monitoring. \u003cbr/\u003eAfter he was acquitted, Bakley's family sued him in civil court.\u003cbr/\u003eBefore the death of Bakley, Blake was a wealthy man who had invested money from his film and TV career in real estate. \u003cbr/\u003eHis worth at the time of her death had been estimated to be as much as four (m) million US dollars, but his financial records have been sealed and are now in the hands of bankruptcy court.\u003cbr/\u003eThe properties have since been sold, with much of the money used for his legal defence.\u003cbr/\u003eBlake points out that he offered Bakley's children a settlement of 250-thousand US dollars before the civil trial began and they rejected it.\u003cbr/\u003eInstead, the family took Blake to trial, and a jury awarded them 30 (m) million US dollars, a figure unlikely to be paid.\u003cbr/\u003eBlake said he is broke and living on his Social Security and Screen Actors Guild pension. \u003cbr/\u003eWith his bankruptcy case pending, he said he needs permission to get
