Many handicrafts can now be seen in a former palace in the capital. \u003cbr/\u003eThe residence of one of Iran's late kings, Muhammad Reza Pahlavi, is now a museum for Iranian art and handicrafts in the capital Tehran. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Palace was transformed into a museum in 1982 and objects on display include carpets, furniture, weapons and other artefacts.\u003cbr/\u003eHandicrafts from across the ages are kept in the museum, which is popular with both Iranians and tourists.\u003cbr/\u003eOne visitor to the museum, Hosein Shojayi, says he thinks it is very important, especially now, to show Iran's elegant artistic heritage to people from other countries.\u003cbr/\u003eMany of the handicrafts highlight the period which they are from - religious ceremonies, the way people dressed and even the personality of the artist who made the handicraft.\u003cbr/\u003eArtist Ayoub Javankar, says he thinks Iranian handicrafts are an integral part of the country's history.\u003cbr/\u003eBut while handicrafts can be found all over Iran, Isfahan is the city known as the cradle of the traditional crafts. \u003cbr/\u003eHand painted bowls and jugs, decorated with blue designs are particularly popular in the area and people work hard in workshops around the city painting the ceramic pieces.\u003cbr/\u003eIranian handicrafts are attractive to people from both inside and outside the country. \u003cbr/\u003eSome tourists, like Barbu Ilie, say they find it hard to decide which of the beautiful pieces to buy.\u003cbr/\u003eUniversity student Ehsan Montazeri says he believes that the handicrafts highlight the richness of Iranian history and culture.\u003cbr/\u003eIran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organisation said recently that the country exports handicrafts
