Various of paintings\u003cbr/\u003eFor some mysterious reason, a woman's face painted by Leonardo Da Vinci five centuries ago, has become the most famous one in history. \u003cbr/\u003eAnd, as it happens with anything famous, it has come out to the streets and served as advertisements at bars, hotels, cosmetics stores, and as brand names for nylons, cheeses, chocolates, laxatives, cigarettes, articles of dress, songs and movies. \u003cbr/\u003eMany versions of that painting - The Mona Lisa - can be seen in La Paz, all at once, thanks to Mariano Baptista Gumucio. \u003cbr/\u003eThis historian from Cochabamba owns a collection ranging from press articles to souvenirs, to an exclusive group of \"Creole Mona Lisas\" that his Bolivian artist friends had painted and sculpted. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I feel she accompanies me, she is the first lady of culture in the world, at least in the western world,\" Mariano Baptista Gumucio.\u003cbr/\u003eReproductions of \"La Gioconda\" in curlers, with braces on her teeth, naked, with an apple hiding her face - by a painter who quoted Rene Magritte. \u003cbr/\u003eRobert Valc�rcel, Roxana Crespo, Fabricio Lara, Ejti Stih are just some of those painters that have contributed their interpretations of \"the Mona Lisa\" to the collection.  \u003cbr/\u003eBaptista, who among his treasures keeps a Mono Liso - a male version of the Mona Lisa - with the face of the former President of the Republic, V�ctor Paz Estenssoro, has plans to exhibit the collection, especially for the high school students, in order for them - he says - to lose their fear of culture, of art. \u003cbr/\u003eIn 1956, a Bolivian, Hugo �nzaga Villegas stopped in front of the Mona Lisa painting, took out a stone from his pocket and it threw at the face of the illustrious lady causing damage in the elbow. Since then, the painting is protected by a thick glass. \u003cbr/\u003eThe incident was attributed to �nzaga's mental problems, and he was not prosecuted. \u003cbr/\u003eThis incident motivated Mariano Baptista - he says half-jokingly - to try and restore his country's image. \u003cbr/\u003eSo he began to collect Mona Lisas. His friends found out and began to send him anything that had to do with the painting, while several national artists created artworks for the
