How is it possible that so many people came in illegally? I want to know. We don't know anything and it affects us,\" said Hagit, a South Tel Aviv resident.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile Israel says it wants to deport the Africans, international law bars it from sending them back to their countries because their lives would be in danger.\u003cbr/\u003eWith no other country volunteering to take them in, critics say Israel has dragged its feet in reviewing claims for refugee status.\u003cbr/\u003eItamar Haritan, an Israeli human rights activist, says Israel \"should hear everyone's stories according to international law, according to the refugee conventions that Israel signed in 1951 and see which one is a refugee and which one is not.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"But what has happened is that the Israeli government has not considered any of the requests of any of these people for asylum and instead said that they're all infiltrators.\"\u003cbr/\u003eHuman rights groups consider Eritrea one of the most repressive countries in the world because of its crackdowns on political dissidents and independent media, and its limitations of civil liberties and men forced into years of conscription. \u003cbr/\u003eSudan has been riven by coups and civil war that has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.\u003cbr/\u003eIts president, Omar al-Bashir, has been charged with war crimes by the International Criminal Court.\u003cbr/\u003eIsrael grants automatic citizenship to anyone who is Jewish.\u003cbr/\u003eThe migrants are largely Muslim and Christian.\u003cbr/\u003e1.
