I have learned a lot from the process of writing. But I realise there are so many people who actually read the blog. At first, I was just blogging for myself to record my own experiences, but it's remarkable how many people say that just my stories of me and my daughter have inspired them to be better parents and better dads. So, what better reward is that?\"\u003cbr/\u003eShetty often writes about his feelings about the importance of strong families. But he also writes social issues in the community and his own personal experiences as a dad.\u003cbr/\u003eIn a controversial post Shetty wrote about a local restaurant's refusal to provide highchairs and diaper changing stations to customers. \u003cbr/\u003eThe entry was viewed nearly 10,000 times and gained considerable attention on social media platforms. \u003cbr/\u003eJean Hebert is spending some quality time with his six year old daughter Isabel. \u003cbr/\u003eHebert works as communication studies instructor and researcher and routinely blogs about the impacts of technology on everyday life and issues such as privacy. \u003cbr/\u003eIncreasingly, however, he is blogging about his role as a father. His blog reads like a public diary, and his roughly 400 followers gain unique insights into his life as a dad.\u003cbr/\u003eHebert created his first blog in 2003 on Livejournal and MySpace, but since 2011, he has been blogging on the dadbeat site. \u003cbr/\u003eTo date, he has posted over 100 posts altogether, but admits its hard to find time to devote to dadbeat.com. \u003cbr/\u003eIn a good month, he says he posts two or three times, and sometimes once a week. He adds this is a fairly typical pace for non-commercial bloggers like him.   \u003cbr/\u003eHebert is shaping his latest post while keeping an eye on his daughter as she plays in the park. He admits it isn't an ideal place to write and tries to write when his daughter is at school or asleep. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Research shows that we're not good multitaskers,\" says Hebert. \"When you consider the kind of tasks, especially with intellectual or creative work that humans are expected to do, to do well at it, you have to give it your utmost attention. So you have to commit yourself full-time to writing this post. And a post can take hours to write and days to research sometimes if you want to produce a quality blog post.\"\u003cbr/\u003eIn order to share lessons that other fathers have learned as parents, Shetty recently interviewed 100 dads. \u003cbr/\u003eHe published their stories in his book, \"Wisdom from Daddies. What I learned from Interviewing 100 Dads about Fatherhood.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe fathers he spoke with live around the world and represent a wide range of age groups, ethnic and cultural groups. \u003cbr/\u003eAbove all, Shetty says writing the book taught him that the most crucial thing about being a father is spending time with your children, not only being their financial provider. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I think our nation is composed of small families. And a family is obviously composed of a father, a mother and children,\" says Shetty. \"You look at society today and there is a huge divorce rate. It's epidemic, it's growing every day. And one of my passions is to build strong families, strong marriages, and strong fathers. One of my favourite quotes is, to have a strong nation, we need strong marriages. To have a strong nation, we need strong fathers. At the end of the day, the only person I can really change is myself. I can be the best dad I can be to my daughter and the best husband I can be to my wife.
