( Dec. 9)\u003cbr/\u003e[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE]\u003cbr/\u003eyou're thinking of going green when it comes to cars, then Santa Monica California is the place to be. \u003cbr/\u003eThis weekend, the beach front community near Los Angeles is hosting the Alternative Car Expo. \u003cbr/\u003eThey're promising a hundred vehicles on display powered by something other than gas. \u003cbr/\u003eAnd that means everything from pollution-free electric powered runabouts of all shapes and sizes to sleek hybrids that use a combination of electric power and hydrogen. \u003cbr/\u003eAnd it also means cars that use other fuels, like natural gas or biodiesel or ethanol. \u003cbr/\u003eSome alternative auto owners at the Expo say clean-burning cars aren't just the wave of the future, they're here now and becoming more affordable, especially if you just want something to get to the grocery and back.\u003cbr/\u003eSOT: Paul Pearson, electric car owner. \u003cbr/\u003eBut backers of alternative cars know consumers want cars that go the distance, long distance.
