Shirin Ebadi in her office with journalist\u003cbr/\u003eIranian Nobel peace laureate Shirin Ebadi has criticised Iran's political system, saying she did not vote in the first round of presidential elections on Saturday.\u003cbr/\u003eIn an interview with APTN, Ebadi said that the elections were neither free nor representative.\u003cbr/\u003eShe criticised the fact that women were not eligible as candidates in the poll. \u003cbr/\u003eIn last Friday's presidential elections  political veteran Hashemi Rafsanjani and Tehran's hard-line mayor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad headed the polls. \u003cbr/\u003eNeither won a clear majority.\u003cbr/\u003eA runoff will be held later this week.   \u003cbr/\u003e\"Elections in Iran do not enjoy necessary standards and conditions of a free election\", Ebadi said. \"Many of the presidential hopefuls especially women, did not have the chance to run for presidency. who died in jail in Tehran in 2003.\u003cbr/\u003eEbadi leads a four-member legal team on behalf of Kazemi's mother.\u003cbr/\u003eKazemi, a Canadian freelance journalist of Iranian origin, died July 10, 2003 while in detention. \u003cbr/\u003eShe was detained in June 2003 for taking photographs outside notorious Evin prison during student-led protests against the ruling Islamic establishment.\u003cbr/\u003eIranian authorities initially claimed Kazemi died in custody after fainting and falling.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Kazemi's family, along with reformists in Iran claim the real reasons for her death have been covered up. \u003cbr/\u003eThey claim she was tortured and murdered by Iranian authorities while being interrogated. \u003cbr/\u003eKazemi died in a Tehran hospital
