Wide of end of presser\u003cbr/\u003eThe International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Friday pronounced China's capital ahead of schedule for the 2008 Summer Games, lavishing praise on Beijing's planners for \"impressive and advanced\" work.\u003cbr/\u003eHein Verbruggen, the IOC member in charge of the coordination commission for the 2008 Summer Games, said he knew of no area where China's preparations were faltering.       \u003cbr/\u003eIOC members have been holding 3 days of intensive meetings with the Beijing Olympic organizing committee this week about various logistics for China's first-ever Olympics. \u003cbr/\u003eSubjects discussed included construction, marketing, finance, security, the environment, communications and even sport.       \u003cbr/\u003eThe Chinese capital is in the midst of an Olympics-fueled building boom, with a multibillion-dollar program under way to build 16 new stadiums and gymnasiums for Olympic competitors.\u003cbr/\u003e500 kilometers (310 miles) will be added to the city's expressways and 41 kilometers (25 miles) to the existing 54 kilometers (34 miles) of subway line.\u003cbr/\u003eThe IOC leaders also pledged to consider a request from the Beijing organizing committee to push the Games back a few weeks. China says that would save athletes from punishing summer heat like that beating down on the city this week.      \u003cbr/\u003eTemperatures in Beijing typically reach 38 degrees Celsius (100 Fahrenheit) this time of year. At midday Friday, the temperature in central Beijing, under a blistering sun, was 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). Hotter temperatures were expected during the weekend.\u003cbr/\u003eBeijing was awarded the 2008 Olympics last year after years of trying and despite opposition from activists who said the Chinese
