This is great. This is a win - win situation here. You can sit back and have a drink.\"\u003cbr/\u003eBlanchett, however, was quick to note that every Woody Allen film is a group effort.  \u003cbr/\u003e\"It's all about what you can - how you can connect with an audience and so whether it's bits of myself - I can't say,\" she explained. \u003cbr/\u003e\"It was very challenging and complex and I hope I did the writing justice but it really was a part to swing a cat in. There was so many ways that you go but in the end you have to be - particularly in a Woody Allen film - is that it's all about the ensemble because he doesn't cut around to create tension or to create connection between actors. It either lives or dies on that connection.\"\u003cbr/\u003eBest actor went to Robert Redford for his one man, virtually wordless role in \"All is Lost.\"  \u003cbr/\u003eHe attributed critical praise for the film to the vision of director J.C. Chandor.  \u003cbr/\u003e\"I think is has to do with the kind of film that J.C. structured and invented by removing a lot of elements like dialogue, special effects - any kind of elements that new technology has brought into the business,\" he said. \u003cbr/\u003e\"By removing all that and creating a more, I guess a more pure cinematic experience, it opened it up for the audience to come closer to the action and the actor. I think that was different. The main thing I think - taking the dialogue out and letting the audience get close enough to the character that they would literally make that journey with him - I think that was probably the greatest benefit.\"\u003cbr/\u003eBut the actor/director does feel honored to be recognized by the Critics Circle. \u003cbr/\u003e\"It's a big deal. It's a special honor,\" he said. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I mean, this is a pretty illustrious group. They can be tough and to get it from them is a particular honor for me.\"\u003cbr/\u003eGlenn close presented the best actor award to Redford.  \u003cbr/\u003eShe has known him since they co-starred in \"The Natural,\" which came out in 1984. She has also served on Redford's Sundance Institute Board for 16 years.  \u003cbr/\u003eClose praised Redford for taking on the role that won him best actor.  \u003cbr/\u003e\"So unexpected; so what he talks about: taking risks, be interesting, try things that you've never done before and to do it at his age.
