Performance clip- Bloc Party\u003cbr/\u003eEnglish indie rock band Bloc Party played a roaring set at Stubbs in Austin Texas on Thursday night, as part of the South by South West (SXSW) annual music festival.\u003cbr/\u003eOn day two of the festival, Bloc Party took to the stage just after midnight with a 15 song show compromised mostly of music from their latest album release 'A Weekend In The City.'\u003cbr/\u003eAP Entertainment snatched a few moments backstage with drummer, Matt Tong, lead singer,  Kele Okereke just prior to their performance.\u003cbr/\u003eAn excited Tong explained there was \"nothing better than being surrounded by fellow musicians,\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"Being immersed in a big sloppy musical mess is something that is very definitely very exciting to us,\" Tong said.\u003cbr/\u003eBloc Party crashed onto the British music scene in 2005 with spiky guitar rock on the critically acclaimed debut album 'Silent Alarm,' which reached number 3 on the UK album charts. But the album failed to light up the United States.\u003cbr/\u003eThe US takes a lot more work Tong said.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Once you get some kind of profile in the UK you know it is very easy for other people to access what it is that you do. Compared to the US (United States), it's such a big country it takes a lot longer to 'work it.'\"\u003cbr/\u003e'Silent Alarm' eventually did \"comparatively quite well in the states,\" said Tong. \"But it took a while with us touring. We spent three months in the states in 2005 promoting that record which is you know - quite a long time and you know, that really set the ground work for 'A Weekend In The City' to do much better,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eThe band released their second album in the US on Feb 5, 2007. It debuted at number 12 on Billboard 200, finally capturing the ears of Americans and sparking the senses of record labels.\u003cbr/\u003eKele Okereke, lead singer, describes Bloc Party as a \"band who isn't afraid to recognise there is a lot of great contemporary music being made.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"It is not always about bands from twenty or thirty years ago\", he said explaining the bands interest in contemporary pop, RnB, and electronic.\u003cbr/\u003e\"That's equally as important - if not more important to me than sounding like Velvet Underground or something,\" he said when asked to describe the bands sound.\u003cbr/\u003eThe South by South West is an important showcase festival attracting bands from all over the world to play over four nights and four days.\u003cbr/\u003eIt is essentially a music festival for the music industry. Record company representatives and industry hawks make up a mixed international audience trying to seek out the next hot band. \u003cbr/\u003eBloc Party have been \"lucky enough to be able to play many different places and gain a similar response,\" said Tong, but admits crowds at home in the UK \"can get a bit hairy.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"The crowds are definitely very friendly and vibrant in the US. There still seems to be a bit of innocence I think with the concert going public here,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter SXSW the band will stay on in the US and finish their current tour. They will then head back to Europe and the UK before attempting another tour of the states, and yet more festivals in Europe.\u003cbr/\u003eBut its recording that is top priority for the band right now, \"that is definitely the plan,\" Tong said before launching into a thrashing opening number on stage.\u003cbr/\u003eSXSW runs from the 14 -18 March,
