Little was left; even light bulbs were removed from their fittings.\u003cbr/\u003eThere was no notice of closure given to the 13 employees who are now discussing with the city''s authorities what options lay ahead for them and the famed cafe.\u003cbr/\u003eThe traditional Argentine style cafeteria sits in the lobby of the former Richmond hotel.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile the hotel has been long closed the cafe has over the years grown in popularity. \u003cbr/\u003eA refuge right in the centre of the city it built up an inclusive clientele from the business suit clad executives of the nearby financial district to the local rail station workers, to the increasing throng of tourists on shopping jaunts along the adjacent Florida street.\u003cbr/\u003eThe cafe was a throw-back to old Buenos Aires, one of the only places in the modern metropolis where wifi was not available but where the waiters were on first name terms with their regulars.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter the outcry over its closure, the building was declared a cultural heritage site on Thursday by the municipal government of Buenos Aires. But afficionados point out that while this may save the building it cannot control what goes on inside or keep alive the history that was the Richmond
