Udvar-Hazy Center is a giant hangar converted to display aircraft and aviation artifacts, including the B-29 bomber, Enola Gay, which dropped the first atomic bomb used in anger, on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on Aug. 6, 1945.\u003cbr/\u003eAmong the centre's first guests were seven survivors of the two atomic bombs dropped on Japan in the Second World War, present to see the plane and express their anti-atomic views.\u003cbr/\u003eDr. Terumi Tanaka, who survived the atomic bombing of Nagasaki said he was saddened rather than angered by viewing the aircraft, which \"killed so many of my friends, so many of my family members.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe survivors said their main complaint was that no information on the effects of the bomb were not included in the display.\u003cbr/\u003eThe death toll in Hiroshima from the Enola Gay bombing grew to around 140,000 by the end of 1945, while some 70,000 people had died by then in Nagasaki from the second atomic attack, according to U.N. reports. \u003cbr/\u003eMany died lingering deaths well after the bombs were dropped - killed by radiation poisoning.\u003cbr/\u003eA small group of demonstrators shouted briefly near the Enola Gay exhibit after a red liquid representing blood was spilled on the floor near the plane's nose gear. \u003cbr/\u003eSecurity officers moved in quickly to restore order, and maintenance workers cleaned up the spill.\u003cbr/\u003eA spokesman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said that airport police arrested two men in connection with the incident.\u003cbr/\u003eA 73-year-old man from Ohio was charged with felony destruction of property and loitering for allegedly throwing the container. \u003cbr/\u003eControversy over the Enola Gay is not new. In 1994, the Smithsonian was planning to put on display part of  the fuselage of the plane in a comprehensive exhibit that was to focus on the massive human casualties and destruction caused by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the historical aftermath.\u003cbr/\u003eBut the museum bowed to protests by U.S. politicians and World War II veterans, who said the exhibition underplayed
