Today, with our better knowledge of the geography of our solar system, we see how central it is the modern planetary science.\"\u003cbr/\u003e4. Video of the model of the actual New Horizons craft \u003cbr/\u003eNASA's New Horizons spacecraft will be the first spacecraft to visit Pluto, the furthest planet from the sun, and its moon Charon. \u003cbr/\u003eAt a press conference from the Johnson Space Centre, NASA scientist Dr. Alan Stern said the study of Pluto would help scientists learn about the origin of the solar system.\u003cbr/\u003eNo spacecraft has ever visited the planet, and not even the Hubble Space Telescope can spot details on its rocky, icy surface. \u003cbr/\u003eYet with the New Horizons mission, now in development and a planned liftoff in January 2006 from Launch Complex 41 at the Kennedy Space Centre, NASA looks to unlock one of the solar system's last, great planetary secrets.   \u003cbr/\u003eThe journey to Pluto will take nine years.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter launch aboard an Atlas V, New Horizons is expected to cross the entire span of the solar system, in record time, and conduct flyby studies of Pluto and its moon, Charon, in 2015. \u003cbr/\u003eScientists hope the seven science instruments on the piano-sized probe will shed light on the bodies' surface properties,
