It takes dedication, perseverance and sweat. \u003cbr/\u003eMany young women at Bangkok''s Superstar Academy hope their hard work will pay off some day. \u003cbr/\u003eToday they are warming up for what''s known as a street jazz dance class. \u003cbr/\u003eThe school opened its doors a year ago. Since then nearly 1,000 young Thais have taken part in its dance, singing, DJ and music programmes. \u003cbr/\u003eThe school says it plans to expand its facility to take on more students.\u003cbr/\u003eMany of the young people here dream of launching careers as famous artists and performers. \u003cbr/\u003eMost were inspired to take to the stage after watching popular Thai versions of American Idol.\u003cbr/\u003eThe school says just 10 to 20 percent of their students will have thriving careers in the industry. \u003cbr/\u003eBut dance coach Oat Chanukrit Thienkalaya says his classes target students who simply come to enjoy themselves and those with greater ambitions who are training to go on to be superstars. \u003cbr/\u003e\"They want to train to enter the industry, so we must be strict and effective in giving them a structure,\" says Oat. \"Whereas about 40 or 50 percent of the children say they want to learn because they want to have fun and feel healthy. So the atmosphere in this class will feel very casual and there will be sounds of laughter with dancing going on.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThailand''s music business is a multimillion-dollar industry. There are roughly 15 record labels in the country representing dozens of pop singers and performers. \u003cbr/\u003eGMM Grammy has a 70 percent share of Thailand''s music market. The most famous Thai singers can earn more than half a million dollars a year. \u003cbr/\u003eSuperstar Academy also runs a management agency that helps launch its most promising students'' careers. \u003cbr/\u003eSo far, Thailand has produced only one international superstar, Tata Young. At 29 years old, the pop star has sold more than 14 million copies of her six Thai and three English albums and has been dubbed Asia''s \"Queen of Pop.\"\u003cbr/\u003eMany young women at the Superstar Academy long to follow in Tata Young''s footsteps and become Thailand''s next international sensation.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I come here to train because I want to learn to sing and dance better, and I want to have a better personality that could also help me to become a singer,\" says 19 year-old Belle Panassada Tasungnern.\u003cbr/\u003eNine year-old Nadya Rauch also dreams of becoming a famous performer. She trains one-on-one with Superstar Academy''s director Pam Lalita Tavedikul. \u003cbr/\u003eNadya is getting her voice in top shape for her upcoming role as the Scarecrow in her school''s production of the musical \"The Wizard of Oz\". \u003cbr/\u003e\"What I''ve learned here and really trying to make it better, because it''s a chance that I won''t often get to perform in the Wizard of Oz,\" says Nadya. \"So I really want to take it seriously and not have it just as for fun, but also have it as another step to have it if I want to become like a singer.\"  \u003cbr/\u003eAs a child, Pam rose to fame in Thailand as a singer and performer. She is now passionate about supporting the next generation of stars. \u003cbr/\u003eTwo years ago, she launched a hit television show, Superstar TV, inspired by American Idol, and millions of Thais tuned in. \u003cbr/\u003eThere are more than five training centres in Bangkok that claim to help young people build careers as superstars. There are concerns among some parents and teachers that the rise of celebrity culture is creating unhealthy pressures for youth in terms of looks, diet, money and fame. \u003cbr/\u003ePam insists becoming a celebrity isn''t a goal her school pushes on young people. The most important thing she says is having passion for what you do. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Now, whether famous or not famous, don''t think too much about it, don''t stress about it,\" says Pam. \"If you get famous, then consider it a bonus, but if you aren''t famous, you get happiness from the fact that you can make music. It gives them an outlet to really express what they are feeling through movement and through song. And it allows them to have a goal that they can work hard towards achieving, and that is a skill that we all need. To learn that at a young age I think is really invaluable.\"   \u003cbr/\u003eAcross Bangkok, 11 year-old Apisama Larbmahanond, best known as Betty, rehearses a Thai pop song. She is one of dozens of young people who train several times a week at Star Maker Vocal Performance Academy. \u003cbr/\u003e\"The training helps me to develop my voice and my performance skills,\" says Betty. \"Before, I was a little scared to go on stage, but now I have more confidence and I can perform naturally.\"\u003cbr/\u003eFourteen year-old Bandharee Sangkawanich is another of Star Maker''s most promising students.\u003cbr/\u003eShe gets personal coaching from the school''s director Maneenuch Smerasut, a well-known singer in Thailand.  \u003cbr/\u003e\"Strongly believe.
