Visitor walking past Teng's poster.\u003cbr/\u003eMusicians across Asia from K-Pop to Japanese stars can all trace some influence back to the late Taiwanese singing legend, Teresa Teng. \u003cbr/\u003eTeng was perhaps the first big Mandarin-language singing star. \u003cbr/\u003e60 years after her birth, a new exhibition in her honour has opened in Taipei. \u003cbr/\u003eFor people of a certain age in Taiwan, superstar Teresa Teng shaped their teenage memories and heartaches. \u003cbr/\u003eNow a special exhibition is marking the 60th anniversary of the legendary Taiwanese singer, Teresa Teng's birth. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Teresa Teng Foundation has created an exhibition in Taiwan to commemorate what would have been her 60th birthday. \u003cbr/\u003eThe exhibition, \"Legend -Teresa Teng\" highlights six important times in Teng's life.  \u003cbr/\u003eFrom childhood, to her rise to popularity, and to international stardom, fans can get a closer look at Teng's life. \u003cbr/\u003ePersonal items such as her note book, make up box, and jewelry are all on display, along with the gowns that she wore on stage, and the trophies that she won.  \u003cbr/\u003eScenes from her life have been recreated, including her apartment in Hong Kong, and backstage at the nightclub she performed at. \u003cbr/\u003eTeng's voice echoes through the exhibition. \u003cbr/\u003eExhibition curator Joy Lai says they have tried to incorporate modern technology into the exhibition to enhance the fan's experience. \u003cbr/\u003e\"This is the biggest exhibition that ever had of Teresa Teng. Also we tried to give a new look for the exhibition. We use the new technique to present her life and to (have her be) closer to the audience.\"\u003cbr/\u003eA 3D hologram of Teng belting out one of her classic hits is also on show at the exhibition. \u003cbr/\u003eBorn and raised in a small town outside Taipei city, Teng's musical talents were discovered at an early age.  She left junior high school to pursue a singing career full time.  \u003cbr/\u003eHer angelic voice, and girl-next-door look soon captured many hearts in Taiwan. \u003cbr/\u003eLai says everyone could relate to her songs. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I think that's because her songs related to many people's life stories. And that's very precious because many audiences think that they are only listening to Teresa Teng songs but listen to the age of their youth. I think that's why people love her.\"\u003cbr/\u003eIn the 1970s and the 80s, she had a slew of mega hits that cemented her status as Mandarin music's first superstar.  \u003cbr/\u003eHer popularity soon extended beyond Taiwan to China, South East Asia, and Japan.  \u003cbr/\u003eJohn Huang, an overseas Taiwanese, says that Teng is not just a star, but a \"Chinese treasure\" as well.  Seeing her in 3D, and listening to her music makes him nostalgic, he says. \u003cbr/\u003eMr and Mrs Lien say they loved her music, and her personality. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Her music is beautiful and when you see her she does not look just like a singer but she also has a great personality\".\u003cbr/\u003eTeng died of an asthma attack in Thailand in 1995.  She was 42 at the time of her death. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Legend -Teresa Teng\" is held at the CKS memorial hall in Taipei, from 26 January - April 21st.
