Wide of gates\u003cbr/\u003eUN arms experts inspected a presidential palace in the heart of Baghdad on Wednesday, making their second visit to a residence of President Saddam Hussein since inspections resumed last year.\u003cbr/\u003eThe inspectors, who are seeking weapons of mass destruction, visited what is popularly known as the 'Old Palace' in the city's al-Karadah district \u003cbr/\u003eIt was not immediately known if Saddam was in the palace, which overlooks the Tigris river.\u003cbr/\u003eJournalists were kept outside by Iraqi security officers.\u003cbr/\u003eThe palace, which was built after the fall of the monarchy in 1958, bombed twice during the 1991 Gulf war and subsequently repaired, could not be seen from the road.\u003cbr/\u003eUN inspectors last visited a presidential palace, the al-Sajoud in Baghdad, on December 3. The Iraqis did not obstruct the visit, but protested the following day that it was unnecessary.\u003cbr/\u003eIraq strongly resisted searches of presidential grounds under a different UN inspection regime during the 1990s, leading to an agreement whereby such visits could take place only with notice and an escort of foreign diplomats.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, Resolution 1441 explicitly gives the inspectors the right to visit any site in Iraqi at any time and without warning.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, an American peace group in Baghdad marked the birthday of assassinated American activist Martin Luther King with anti-war readings from a 1967 speech given by King. \u003cbr/\u003eLater on Wednesday, UN inspection teams visited what the Iraqis call the Al Qaqaa Government enterprise in Yousefiya, approximately 40 kilometers south-west of Baghdad.\u003cbr/\u003ePrior to Operation Desert Storm, the complex included a solid propellant facility, a suspected Scud production facility and the Latifiyah BW facility, located at the eastern end of the site which was part of an overall complex known as the Latifiyah Explosives and Ammunition Plant Al Qaqaa.\u003cbr/\u003eInspectors also
