Close view - Jessica Lynch\u003cbr/\u003eAn Iraqi Attorney has discussed his role in helping rescue Jessica Lynch, the army private who was rescued by US forces during the war.\u003cbr/\u003eMohammed Al-Rehaief said he realized he had to save Lynch after he saw a Fedayeen soldier slap her during questioning.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said the event changed his life, and he decided to risk his own life to save her.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, according to excerpts of her biography, \"I Am a Soldier, Too: The Jessica Lynch Story\", Lynch denied claims by Al Rehaief that she was beaten by a Fedayeen soldier as she lay in her hospital bed.\u003cbr/\u003eNews reports also say that Lynch said she does not remember Al Rehaief's claims of talking to him in the hospital.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Al Rehaief said he knows what he saw, and is standing by his story.    \u003cbr/\u003eAl Rehaief said he went inside the hospital several times to scout the area, and then drew maps of the hospital interior and gave them to the US military for use in the rescue operation.\u003cbr/\u003eLynch also claims in the book that she was raped by her Iraqi captors.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough Lynch said she has no memory of the sexual assault, medical records cited in the book indicate that she was raped by her Iraqi captors, according to US media who said they had advance copies.\u003cbr/\u003eThe book - due to be released Tuesday - covers Lynch's experience between March 23 when her 507th Maintenance Company convoy was ambushed in Nasiriyah and April 1 when she was evacuated from a hospital by US commandos. It was unclear if the book cites American or Iraqi records.\u003cbr/\u003eLynch suffered broken bones to her right arm, right leg and thighs and ankle and received a head injury when her Humvee utility vehicle was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade and crashed into another vehicle. Eleven soldiers were killed in the attack.\u003cbr/\u003eIn an interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, Lynch said she has no recollection of a rape. \u003cbr/\u003eShe also accused the military of using her capture and dramatic nighttime rescue to sway public support for the war in Iraq.\u003cbr/\u003eVideo of U.S. commandos whisking Lynch to a waiting chopper helped cement Lynch's image as a hero. But in the \"Primetime\" interview to be aired on Tuesday, Lynch told Sawyer there was no reason for her rescue to be filmed.\u003cbr/\u003eAl Rehaief and his family have been granted asylum in the
