It was the city hall for London for so long and after the Tory government in the 80s booted the local government out, this place has remained empty until for nearly 15 years and it's amazing to open the doors and let people in again. I think also contemporary art in general needs to be better understood and brought to a wider audience and I think there's been an amazing cultural shift on the South Bank. You've now got this museum mile, ehich consisits of the Tate Britain at one end and the Design Museum and Tate Modern at the other and in between you've got the Saatchi Gallery, the Heyward Gallery, the Royal Festival Hall and the National Theatre so really what's happened, you've now got this really vibrant arts and cultural community and  it's fantastic really to be part of that.\" \u003cbr/\u003e17. VS exhibits\u003cbr/\u003eThe Saatchi gallery opens it's doors on Thursday in it's new location of County Hall on London's South Bank. \u003cbr/\u003eThe new exhibition space will be launched with a star-studded party tomorrow evening with guests from film TV and politics.\u003cbr/\u003eCharles Saatchi himself has chosen not to attend, but his wife, chef Nigella Lawson will be going along to the lavish bash which is expected to echo the glitzy opening of the nearby Tate Modern two years ago.\u003cbr/\u003eMore than 20 of the grand panelled rooms of County Hall are used for display, as well as several corridors.\u003cbr/\u003eVisitors to the gallery are immediately greeted by a Mini car painted with his trademark spot design perched precariously on the entrance steps like a scene from The Italian Job.\u003cbr/\u003eMost prominent in the gallery are works by Saatchi favourite Damien Hirst, who achieved notoriety for exhibiting a shark, sliced cattle, a halved pig and a sheep in tanks of formaldehyde, all with profound titles. \u003cbr/\u003eEach of these works, contained in collector Charles Saatchi's vast archive, is being displayed at the gallery overlooking the Thames, along with a new piece, that for the first time includes living creatures. \u003cbr/\u003eEntitled 'Love Lost', the work takes the form of a giant aquarium filled with carp, swimming around\u003cbr/\u003emedical equipment and a computer.\u003cbr/\u003eOther noted works in the gallery include Marcus Harvey's controversial painting Myra, displayed for the first time in the UK since it was shown at the Sensation exhibition in 1997.\u003cbr/\u003eThe work features an enormous monochrome version of child-killer Myra Hindley's face made up of hundreds of tiny handprints.\u003cbr/\u003eOn its last outing it was attacked by protesters with eggs and ink, and the artist set about clearing up the \"irreparable\" damage with household cleaning products.\u003cbr/\u003eTracy Emin's bed which formed part of her Turner Prize exhibition is also on display. Emin spent an afternoon reassembling the stained bedclothes and assorted debris which includes used condoms, a vodka bottle, Polaroids and discarded cigarettes.\u003cbr/\u003eOther artist's work on
