We have the largest collection of Queen Palms outside of Australia. They're nearly 75 feet tall and approaching 100 years old. The property is interpreted by 12 volunteer docents. It's about a 90-minute tour and during that time you hear about the history of the family and you get to know some of the names of the plants. Today it's part of the County's Department of Parks and Recreation under the auspices of the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Gardens. \u003cbr/\u003eIt is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is open to the public by appointment only. \u003cbr/\u003eOnce inside the property, visitors are transported in time to the birthplace of Beverly Hills as the first luxury estate built in the world's most famous residential neighbourhood.\u003cbr/\u003eBuilt by Virginia's architect father, the home is filled with collections from the couples' trips around the world.\u003cbr/\u003eVisitors experience a taste of the life of the privileged in Los Angeles and get a glimpse into the earliest days of glamorous Southern California lifestyle.\u003cbr/\u003eThe home was known as the site of some of the most lavish VIP Hollywood parties.\u003cbr/\u003eThe widowed Mrs. Robinson hosted royalty and celebrities regularly. \u003cbr/\u003eLindsay says: \"The first estate of Beverly Hills hosted legendary parties. They're going to come here and present the book for us.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe tour includes visits to the rose garden and the Italian terrace. \u003cbr/\u003eThe palm terrace gardens and the kitchen garden are used to teach horticulture.\u003cbr/\u003eAs well as a colossal banyon tree, serene paths and sculptures pepper the landscape.\u003cbr/\u003eThe county, along with Friends of Robinson Gardens maintain the estate in keeping with the living traditions of the early twentieth century and as one of the most beautiful estates in Beverly Hills.\u003cbr/\u003eMarilee Beck, from Friends of the Robinson Gardens says the response when people enter is moving.\u003cbr/\u003e\"After a sharp intake of breath, people come here and they sigh.
