surrealist buildings, built by the English surrealist Edward James. \u003cbr/\u003eBut the lack of regular maintenance means the strange concrete structures may crumble and the garden is becoming overgrown. \u003cbr/\u003eIn the middle of the Mexican jungle a ring shaped structure invites visitors into a mysterious imaginary world. \u003cbr/\u003eStaircases that lead to the sky, concrete flowers and perilous waterfall paths serve as a reminder of the surrealist imagination of the late Edward James, a patron of Salvador Dali and visionary artist/ gardener. \u003cbr/\u003eLocated in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi, the sprawling 40-hectare (100-acre) compound is part jungle, part garden and part surrealist masterpiece. \u003cbr/\u003eJames settled in Mexico in the 1940s with dreams of creating a 'garden of Eden', but when his prized orchids were destroyed in a freak frost \u003cbr/\u003eHe then decided to turn his attention creating frost-proof flowers from concrete. \u003cbr/\u003eThe large compound has dozens of surrealist creations including sculptures and the dreamlike 'bridges to nowhere.\u003cbr/\u003eRaul Villas, a local tourist visiting the site is artistic movement.\"\u003cbr/\u003eJames died in 1984 and since then the garden has fallen into a state of disrepair. \u003cbr/\u003eEarlier this year, representatives from the World Monuments Fund visited the site and reported that the tropical trees and plants if allowed to grow unchecked, could  overwhelm the exotic architecture.\u003cbr/\u003eThe steel-reinforced concrete is threatening to crumble under the heat, humidity and tropical vines.\u003cbr/\u003eLi�an says the works would probably disappear if not maintained. \u003cbr/\u003e\"It's a place in danger of disappearing , if proper maintenance work is no longer performed for its conservation,\" said Zaira, who is constantly doing repair work with the help of architects in the area. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Xilitla Fund, which is financed by private backers and the state government, is now responsible for Las Pozas and are working towards preserving this unique place for future
