We always remain under stress of facing attacks as we step out for duty. Yoga helps remove this fear. Yoga also helps us deal with worries about our homes and memories of our families ,\" Vanesh says.\u003cbr/\u003eYoga instructor Ved Prakash has devised a yoga exercise regime suited to the needs of soldiers who are often sleep deprived and don't get to communicate with their families for days.\u003cbr/\u003eFor those living with chronic stress and physical exhaustion, yoga can be a great healer he says.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Earlier they would be under tremendous stress. After their duty hours, they would generally be quietï¿½sometimes they would not even eat their food and quietly sleep. When they talk to their families by telephone , the stress levels go up further, \" Ved Prakash says.\u003cbr/\u003eExperts say practicing yoga for at least half every day can build endurance to face tough situations, relax the muscles and keep the mind alert.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It has really worked well with them. Now they perform their duties in a relaxed manner,\" Prakash adds. \u003cbr/\u003eThe two-decade-long armed rebellion has waned but anger against Indian rule still runs deep in Kashmir.\u003cbr/\u003eThe two neighbouring countries have fought two wars over the control of Kashmir since they won independence from Britain in 1947.\u003cbr/\u003eGrenade attacks and shootouts at police posts are common in Kashmir and danger lurks everywhere.\u003cbr/\u003eAbdul Rahman, a resident of downtown Srinagar, runs a small business.\u003cbr/\u003eHe has three sons and the youngest, Abdul Majeed, joined the Kashmir police in 2005 to support the family.\u003cbr/\u003eDespite misgivings, Abdul Rahman gave in as they need the money and jobs are hard to come by.\u003cbr/\u003eBut with frequent reports of encounters with suspected militants and attacks on security bunkers, he says the family fears he may be killed. \u003cbr/\u003e\"\"Police are vulnerable to attacks as the ground situation is getting worse with each passing day. It has a psychological effect on all of us ,\" says Abdul Rahman.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Only after talking to him we feel at peace  and until he reaches home , we remain concerned about him, \" he adds. \u003cbr/\u003eExperts say yoga can be an effective stress buster for those living in constant fear of being attacked.\u003cbr/\u003eIn a hostile environment, split second decisions can mean life or death.\u003cbr/\u003eDr Hameedullah Shah is a senior doctor at Kashmir's only psychiatric hospital.\u003cbr/\u003eHe says depressive disorders are common among soldiers who are overworked and have no social contact outside of their job.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Sometimes they don't get leave or their leave is delayed. So these multiple factors lead to high levels of stress and they feel frustrated. Frustrations lead to imperiled judgement which leads to over reaction. Sometimes they overreact on a minor issue that results inextreme actions,\" Dr Shah explains. \u003cbr/\u003eIt is not only the rebels who are targetting the soldiers, suicides and incidents of soldiers killing their colleagues called fraticides here, are common among the security forces.\u003cbr/\u003eYoga practice has made a significant contribution in bringing down such incidents , officials say.\u003cbr/\u003e\"If you see the overall graph in last few years , the rate of suicides and fratricides among CRPF has come down.
