patients.\u003cbr/\u003eThe expected visit comes after Benedict's controversial HIV/AIDS comments made en route to Africa on his first trip to the African continent as pontiff.\u003cbr/\u003eBenedict's declaration aboard the papal plane that distributing condoms \"increases\" the AIDS problem angered many. \u003cbr/\u003eIt was not known if Benedict is expected to specifically meet HIV/AIDS patients during his visit.  \u003cbr/\u003eSince stepping off the papal plane on Tuesday, attention to Benedict's pilgrimage has been largely focused on the Vatican's refusal to advocate condoms as a way to help stop the spread of AIDS, which is pandemic in Africa.\u003cbr/\u003eThe French foreign ministry said Benedict's statement could \"endanger public health policies and the imperative to protect human life.\"\u003cbr/\u003eTwo German ministers said that it was irresponsible to reject condoms. \u003cbr/\u003eThe UN agency charged with fighting AIDS also spoke out in favour of condom use.\u003cbr/\u003eBut the Vatican defended the pope's rejection of condoms as a way to stop HIV after international criticism on Wednesday that he was weakening the fight against the disease.\u003cbr/\u003eBenedict told reporters on his flight on Tuesday to Cameroon that a responsible and moral attitude towards sex would help fight the
