have left.\u003cbr/\u003eLocals were reading leaflets distributed by a ''Negotiations Committee'' claiming that Karbala key figures and a group of US army officers reached a ceasefire on Saturday. \u003cbr/\u003eThe US has denied negotiating a ceasefire. \u003cbr/\u003eThe leaflet also stipulated that militiamen loyal to the radical Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr should pull out of the city.\u003cbr/\u003eUS armoured vehicles were seen on the outskirts of the city, but it wasn't immediately clear if they had pulled back from positions in the town itself. \u003cbr/\u003eNo al-Sadr fighters or American forces were seen on the city's streets on Sunday.\u003cbr/\u003eBut the US military has denied claims by al-Sadr's office that all combatants had agreed to withdraw from the city. \u003cbr/\u003e\"There was no cease fire, no deal made in Karbala,\" said Major David Gercken, spokesman for the 1st Armoured Division. \"We do not and will not make deals with militias or criminals.\"\u003cbr/\u003eUS forces captured 10 militia overnight in Karbala, but encountered little or no resistance during patrols, Gercken said.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We have kept pressure on them, kept engaging them and been successful with those operations,\" Gercken said.\u003cbr/\u003eIraqi leaders in Karbala had been trying to negotiate an end to the fighting, though coalition officials have demanded that al-Sadr disband his militia and \"face justice.\" \u003cbr/\u003eThe cleric is wanted in the murder of a rival moderate cleric last year.\u003cbr/\u003eThere was no sign on Sunday of al-Sadr's al-Mahdi Army around Karbala's Imam Hussein shrine, one of Shia Islam's holiest sites. \u003cbr/\u003eThe shrine was guarded by a special security force in civilian clothing that was
