Their diet changes and they stop coming into the gym and that's when they need to come in, get motivated, either speak to a fitness instructor, or a qualified personal trainer, get their programme sorted and look to the future. It's really big in Brazil already, it's big in the clubs, on the beaches, even in Carnival as well. So I think we've been missing out in this country, it's about time someone brought it over to the UK. It's really good for keeping fit. You don't need a partner for a start, so it's not like any ballroom dancing and also it's more interesting than aerobics. It's more interesting choreography, it's not so monotonous, it's great fun so come and give it a try.\"\u003cbr/\u003e26. Various of class doing Samba Reggae\u003cbr/\u003e2009 is well and truly underway - and so are people's new fitness regimes.\u003cbr/\u003eThe United Kingdom's Fitness Industry Association claims twelve per cent of the population will be participating in a get-fit programme this January, but not all of them will be at the gym.\u003cbr/\u003eThis is the nearest that most us get to an army boot camp. \u003cbr/\u003eBut these men and women are keen to be fighting fit and they brave all the weather has to throw at them in order to get instruction from the former soldiers who now run British Military Fitness.\u003cbr/\u003eConscription in the United Kingdom ended over fifty years ago, but the idea of a military style fitness regime has become so popular that thousands of men and women across the country now take part in the growing number of companies offering exercise with a dose of army discipline, although it's not clear whether all the firms offering the service restrict their staff to former military personnel.\u003cbr/\u003eOver the period of an hour they are forced to run, do squat thrusts, piggy backs and other exercises which leave some of them in a happy state of exhaustion.\u003cbr/\u003eMany of those taking part in the classes have found they don't like the solitary nature of pulling weights, running on a machine or riding a bicycle.\u003cbr/\u003eBoris Starling, a writer and British Military Fitness enthusiast, says going to a gymnasium would be easier because there's one at the end of his street. But he says he found it too dull, rotating on exercise bikes, \u003cbr/\u003eweights and other equipment. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says at the Military Fitness classes pupils are not allowed to wear watches, and if he wants the class to end it is from physical exhaustion rather than boredom.\u003cbr/\u003eHe also says there's a social side of  the classes which he hadn't expected, a great camaraderie and where everyone is supported regardless of their ability. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says he had feared it would be a bit like a school sports day where the last competitor in the races are often made to feel embarrassed.\u003cbr/\u003eFellow enthusiast, Sophie Joyce, says she feels much more relaxed after one of the classes because it's not possible to stay stressed about things happening in your life when all you can do is think about running to the next tree, or how you are going to complete difficult exercises like squat thrusts. \u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Joyce, the gruelling discipline helps her clear her mind and leaves her feeling good.\u003cbr/\u003eBut there's no sign yet that all the British public are deserting their gyms in favour of the bracing outdoors.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Fitness Industry Association (FIA) which represents all leisure service providers, claims figures show the nation's gyms and leisure centres get one million visitors each day. The industry as a whole is worth ÄÅ¼Ë3.7 billion ($5.4 billion US) and employs nearly a quarter of a million people.  \u003cbr/\u003eGym instructor, Oliver Darne, says at the beginning of the year people are keen to undertake a lifestyle change to get fit, be healthy and look and feel better. But he says after about six weeks these good intentions start to slacken, either because they haven't seen a big change, or because people become more slack with their diets.  \u003cbr/\u003eDarne says this is when it is important to get motivated again and think of the future. He says the way to succeed is to set goals.\u003cbr/\u003eDarne doesn't believe the credit crunch has had a big impact on the gym industry. The FIA insists that despite current economic climate, for many people, going to the gym or leisure centre relieves the tensions of their work and domestic pressures, and this short period of time is vital to their psychological and emotional, as well as their physical well-being.\u003cbr/\u003eBut gyms no longer rely on rowing machines and aerobic classes to keep people coming through their turnstiles.\u003cbr/\u003eLA Fitness says it's had a growing interest in daily classes which only last a short time, but exert a high amount of energy.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of it's new classes is Samba Reggae, which dance instructor Michael Kitchen, Director of the RPM Dance Theatre is introducing from Brazil. \u003cbr/\u003eKitchen says people are getting hooked by the frenetic Samba with Reggae rhythms for all sorts of reasons. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says it's far more innovative and exciting than aerobics, and similar types of dance exercise, because the choreography and music stops it becoming monotonous and unlike some other forms of dance, you \u003cbr/\u003edon't need a partner to enjoy it.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003c/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv class='action-container flex
