We'll have cabinet-level officials, who speak for Young America's Foundation on college campuses all over America, teach about the real Reagan legacy. And, we'll restore horses to the ranch and allow students to ride on the exact same trails that President Reagan rode on.\" \u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Marc Short, Executive Director, Young America's Foundation\u003cbr/\u003eHorses still graze just beside the patio where Reagan signed the tax-cutting Economic Recovery Tax Act - putting Reaganomics into law.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring Reagan's presidency the likes of Mikhail Gorbachev, Queen Elizabeth and Margaret Thatcher all came to visit, but none of them stayed the night.\u003cbr/\u003eWith its simple decor, the rustic adobe home was perhaps too modest for visiting dignitaries.\u003cbr/\u003eOr maybe Ronald and Nancy Reagan just wanted to keep a retreat for themselves that was as apart from presidency as possible. \u003cbr/\u003eIn the stables, along with many photographis, his saddles still hang on the walls as if Reagan might stop by at any moment and saddle up.\u003cbr/\u003e\"All of the saddles in this room were gifts to the president from various dignitaries. This was a gift from the Australian prime minister for example. But the saddle that's perhaps most important in this room is the one that the president rode day in, day out on his favorite horse El Alamein. This is the English saddle President Reagan used virtually every day he was on Rancho del Cielo.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Kristen Short, Conference Director, Young America's Foundation\u003cbr/\u003eWhile the Reagans spent a total of 345 days here at what they called the Western White House during his eight years as president, Ronald Reagan no longer comes.\u003cbr/\u003eSince announcing in 1994 that he was battling Alzheimer's disease, the Reagans have made their Bel-Air home their primary residence, leaving Rancho del Cielo vacant.\u003cbr/\u003eBut inside, it looks as if they are expected back at any moment.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the living room, one of his favourite caps hangs on the coat rack.\u003cbr/\u003eIts gold braid spells out, \"United States Mounted Secret Service\".\u003cbr/\u003eA red phone is left from the days when 100 Secret Service men would be on hand to protect the president.\u003cbr/\u003eHis favourite candy, jelly beans, still sit in a glass mug.\u003cbr/\u003eOn the bookshelves, his volumes on animals and history still reside.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd that is the way 28-year-old Marc Short plans to keep it, as a shrine to the man he credits with breathing new life into the Grand Old Party.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE:  \"President Reagan is still the grandfather and the standard bearer of the conservative movement. And there is no one else on the horizon who will replace him. It's his mantle and it's someone that we will look up to for generations to come. He's a man who freed America.
