Wide crowd \u003cbr/\u003eMcCARTNEY PROMOTES KIDS BOOK\u003cbr/\u003eSir Paul McCartney took a break from his U.S. tour to promote his new children's book, \"High in the Clouds\" on Monday (3 October) afternoon.\u003cbr/\u003eHundreds of fans lined the New York City streets surrounding the Barnes and Nobles bookstore hoping to get autographed copies of the book. Some fans had been camped out since Friday (30 September) hoping to get a little time with McCartney. McCartney worshipers even travelled from as far as Japan and Brazil. \u003cbr/\u003eThe former Beatle did not disappoint. He arrived on time stopping to greet fans outside of the bookstore. McCartney then took pictures for photographers and signed autographs for 125 lucky fans.\u003cbr/\u003e\"High In the Clouds,\" McCartney's first children's book, tells the story of Wirral the squirrel. Wirral is forced to leave his home after the evil Gretsch destroys the land. Wirral vows to find the land of Animalia where animals live without fear. Wirral is joined by Froggo, the hot-air-ballooning frog, Wilhamina, the red squirrel and Rusty the rodent. Soon the group develops a plan to save enslaved animals everywhere - - a mission that is sure to be filled with danger.\u003cbr/\u003eMcCartney says his love of children's storytelling grew out of his love of classic Disney.\u003cbr/\u003eFor \"High in the Clouds,\" McCartney reunited with artist Geoff Dunbar. The two worked together on the animated films \"Rupert and the Frog Song,\" \"Tuesday\" and \"Tropic Island Hum\" (which features characters from \"High in the Clouds\").\u003cbr/\u003eMcCartney joins a growing list of celebrities turned children's book authors.
