But the Los Angeles version does boast 40 more costumes than the original.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It has 140 costumes,\" noted exhibit curator Deborah Nadoolman Landis, who scoured the planet for lenders. \"From Korea, from the Emirates, from Europe, from all over the United States, private collectors, people who contributed one thing or even a piece of a costume -- studios, but also international archives and museums,\" she explained. \"So, the clothes came from everywhere.\"\u003cbr/\u003eLandis, herself an Oscar-nominated designer (\"Coming to America\"), even included one of her own costumes: the iconic pants, coat, hat and whip for Indiana Jones in director Steven Spielberg's \"Raiders of the Lost Ark.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"Steven knew the archetype,\" Landis recalled. \"Steven knew what he wanted Indiana Jones to look like. And, finally, at a meeting, I was so exasperated -- he kept talking about the leather jacket and the hat -- that I turned around my drawing pad, and I asked him to draw Indiana Jones for me. And, behind us, is actually his sketch, Steven Spielberg's sketch, of Indiana Jones, that he did for me during that meeting. And it's been in my son Max's room ever since.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe exhibit includes a lot more than costumes, with digital displays of animated lines from scripts, television monitors show videos of actors and designers recalling their costumes and designs, and explaining the important contributions those costumes made to the movie's story telling. \u003cbr/\u003eThere are costumes from the silent era to costumes as contemporary as this year's Oscar nominees.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I was lucky enough to be able to design 'Frida,'\" said twice-nominated designer Julie Weiss, standing in front of a display including one of her costumes from the 2002 film starring Salma Hayek. \"Here is (a costume from) 'Lincoln,'\" Weiss continued, pointing to a mannequin placed next to hers. \"(In this exhibit) there is no chronology. So, we have the past. We have the present. And for those who walk into this exhibit, it's the future.
