Violin picked up and turned to show back\u003cbr/\u003eA rare 18th century violin, estimated to sell for up to one-point-five (m) million US dollars was shown off in New York on Tuesday ahead of next weeks auction.\u003cbr/\u003eLeading the yearly spring sale of fine musical instruments at Christies, the \"solomon Ex-Lambert,\" violin was created by famous Italian violin maker Antonio Stradivari in 1729, when the creator was 85-years-old.\u003cbr/\u003eThe violin was brought to life on Tuesday in the Christies Manhattan exhibition room by musicians from New York's famed Julliard school.\u003cbr/\u003eStudent Dmitry Lukin said the sound the \"Solomon, Ex-Lambert\" violin produces is unlike any other.\u003cbr/\u003e\"From the first moment, you feel that the instrument provides you with a excellent sound already, even if you just put the bow and you don't try to do anything beautiful on it, the instrument already gives you beautiful sound, and it gives you power too,\" said Lukin.\u003cbr/\u003eLewis Kaplin, violin expert and Julliard School Professor, said Stradivari's stand alone in their supreme workmanship when compared to other violins made during the 18th century.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Stradivari, perhaps seeing into the future, I think began to make instruments that I would describe many as bold,\" said Kaplin.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of the owners of the \"Solomon, Ex-Lambert\" violin was Dorothy Mary Murray Lambert, a concert violinist during the 1920s and 30s.  \u003cbr/\u003eAfter Lambert's death, the violin was purchased at auction in 1972, from Seymour Solomon, a man who was a graduate of the New York Julliard school during the second World War.\u003cbr/\u003eAntonio Stradivari built violins until he was 93; working with assistants, he made more than eleven hundred, with some 600 surviving today.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Italian craftsman was copied by many others, meaning that thousands of violins bear his name, some were even produced years after Stradivari's death in 1737. \u003cbr/\u003eThe record price for any musical instrument was the Stradivari violin - \"The Hammer\" - which sold for nearly three point six (m) million US dollars
