neighbours. \u003cbr/\u003eIn a society where women must be modestly dressed in public this often means re-shaping their nose. \u003cbr/\u003eSince the 1979 Islamic revolution, Iran's laws dictate that all women must wear a veil and a long coat to cover the head and conceal the body when in public. \u003cbr/\u003eThe modest dress code means that many women focus on their face to show off their attractiveness. \u003cbr/\u003eIn recent years more and more women have been demanding plastic surgery to perfect their appearance. \u003cbr/\u003eNafiseh Dowlat is visiting a cosmetic surgeon for a consultation about a possible nose job. \u003cbr/\u003eShe says that women want to make their face more beautiful as it's the only thing on show. \u003cbr/\u003eCosmetic surgeon Doctor Behrooz Farzam carries out about 100 nose operations each month at his clinic in Tehran.  \u003cbr/\u003eHe says he thinks that more plastic surgery procedures are carried out in Iran than in any other country per head of population. \u003cbr/\u003eDr. Farzam says that plastic surgery is permitted by Sharia law in Shite dominated Iran, as long as it does not harm the recipient's health. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says he sees many patients from religious families who would like to have plastic surgery. \u003cbr/\u003eHowever in many Sunni Muslim countries there are strict laws in this regard because it is deemed to be a manipulation of God's creation. \u003cbr/\u003eIn recent years, other forms of cosmetic enhancement, including chin operations, finger nail implants, embedding fake diamonds in the gums, tattooed eyebrows and breast augmentation have also become popular. \u003cbr/\u003eHemmati, a cosmetic surgery technician, says that the shape of the typical Iranian nose has become unfashionable. \u003cbr/\u003eShe says that rhinoplasty work gives women more confidence. \u003cbr/\u003eIncreasing economic wealth in Iran means that rhinoplasty, which costs between $1,500 to $2,000, is becoming ever more popular, as people have spare cash to spend on non-essentials. \u003cbr/\u003eBusiness is brisk for hundreds of doctors specialising in the highly visible trend in the conservative Islamic state. \u003cbr/\u003eIran 's Association of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon's says about 60,000 to 70,000 individuals annually go under knife for plastic surgery. \u003cbr/\u003eThey say that 70 percent
