Every time I've seen the show - and I saw it quite recently in Sheffield, a very good production - I just love it. It's fantastic.\"\u003cbr/\u003eRice is now back in London's West End with his first totally new production for 13 years - \"From Here to Eternity.\"\u003cbr/\u003eBased on the novel by James Jones, the show marks the West End debut of composer Stuart Brayson, who became friends with Rice after approaching him in the street with a cassette tape of music many years ago.\u003cbr/\u003eIt was around three decades later that he came up with the idea to adapt \"From Here To Eternity\" and finally got the chance to work with Rice.\u003cbr/\u003eThat doesn't mean he names one of Rice's creations as his top show however. He plumps for another classic - \"West Side Story.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"I think all the elements were great,\" he explains. \u003cbr/\u003e\"There was great music, great lyrics, the choreographer. It seemed everybody was at the top of their game who wrote that one, plus it was groundbreaking, so that one stands out to me.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"From Here to Eternity\" has a cast that includes West End regulars Rebecca Thornhill and Darius Campbell.\u003cbr/\u003eThornhill's favorite musical first hit the West End as far back as 1937.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I'm going to say 'Me And My Girl' because it's got everything in it,\" she says. \u003cbr/\u003e\"It's quite old fashioned, it's got comedy in it, it's got a great story, great sets, great costumes and it's got everything for every age, so I'm going to say that one.\"\u003cbr/\u003eRice was at least at the top of one list though, with Campbell choosing a play which went on to become a movie, starring Madonna, and win Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber an Oscar for the song \"You Must Love Me.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"I think that one of the greatest musicals written is 'Evita,'\" says the actor.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I think it's a wonderful story and it's based on historical truth, characters that we end up caring and falling for and it's one of Sir Tim Rice's best musicals, so let's hope that 'From Here To Eternity' can emulate that kind of greatness.\"\u003cbr/\u003eNow in previews, \"From Here To Eternity\" runs at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London until 26th April 2014.\u003cbr/\u003eAP Entertainment\u003cbr/\u003eLondon, 16th October 2013\u003cbr/\u003e1.
