they claim, have disrupted a harvest critical to the region's devastated economy.\u003cbr/\u003eSince olive harvesting began this month, Jewish settlers from nearby hilltops have allegedly plundered groves, set trees on fire and beaten farmers. \u003cbr/\u003ePalestinian militants in turn have attacked Jewish settlers. \u003cbr/\u003eOn Tuesday a 22-year-old Palestinian crawled under the fence of an Israeli settlement in the West Bank and shot dead two teenage girls and a woman. \u003cbr/\u003eA Palestinian militia later claimed responsibility for the attack. \u003cbr/\u003eThey said the shooting was in part to avenge attacks on the olive pickers.\u003cbr/\u003eAmos Oz, an acclaimed novelist who helped found Israel's Peace Now movement, condemned both the plundering of the olive groves and Tuesday's attacks. \u003cbr/\u003eOz picked olives alongside an elderly Palestinian woman in a traditional village dress and the visitors said they hoped to convince the Palestinians that there were Israelis fighting for peace.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Israeli group later visited the village of Yanun. \u003cbr/\u003eTwenty-five Palestinian families fled the village earlier in October after alleged violent attacks by Jewish settlers. \u003cbr/\u003eAround 80 people recently returned, encouraged by the presence of international peace activists.\u003cbr/\u003eA local Yanun resident praised
