Various of children in street polluted with sewage\u003cbr/\u003eCholera, typhoid and diarrhoea are threatening the people of Baghdad following the almost complete collapse of the city's water treatment system.\u003cbr/\u003eAid organisations warned on Tuesday that waterborne diseases were an increasing threat as untreated sewage flowed in streets and summer temperatures soared.\u003cbr/\u003eFamilies living in some of Baghdad's poorest neighbourhoods were inevitably the worst hit. Children were suffering from repeated bouts of diarrhea and there were fears of other diseases to come.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to the aid organisation, Care,  one of the world's largest private international humanitarian organisations, immediate help must come from the coalition forces if a humanitarian disaster is to be prevented.\u003cbr/\u003eMargaret Hassan, who is Care's Iraq country director, stressed that a basic water and sewage system must be provided under the Geneva Conventions.\u003cbr/\u003eWith equipment broken, electrical power unavailable for more than a few hours and employees who had not been paid for months the problems facing the water treatment were many.\u003cbr/\u003eUnder Saddam Hussein's regime, water and sanitation systems were highly
