Mid shot of Titanic exhibit actors standing in first class cabin display. \u003cbr/\u003eRelics of the doomed ocean liner Titanic are making their debut this month in Los Angeles. \u003cbr/\u003eSeveral items recovered from the icy depths of the North Atlantic, from the site of the Titanic wreck, are the latest edition to an exhibit of several hundred artifacts recovered from the Titanic.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Titanic, the Artifact Exhibit\" is currently touring the US, with one last stop at the California Science Center. \u003cbr/\u003eIn March, workers will pack up the exhibit and head for Europe for shows in Paris and London this spring. \u003cbr/\u003eVisitors get a close up look at some of the more than six-thousand items recovered from the Titanic since 1987.\u003cbr/\u003eThey include personal effects carried by some of the more than two-thousand passengers that sailed aboard the Titanic on its maiden voyage in April 1912.\u003cbr/\u003eAt each stop on the exhibit tour, conservators with the Titanic travelling show carefully remove artifacts from shipping crates, inspecting each item set to go on display. \u003cbr/\u003eAmong the items are delicate vials of perfume, whose fragance still fills the air; a leather suitcase, carefully restored by specialists along with cookware and dinnerware once used to serve Titanic's first and second class passengers.\u003cbr/\u003eSome of the new items in the exhibit are paper money and coins, sheet music, decorator ceramic tiles and calling cards carried by Titanic passengers on their journey from Southampton, England to New York City. \u003cbr/\u003eThe largest single item on dislay is a 15-ton section of Titanic's hull. \u003cbr/\u003eIt's hung from a special steel girder and bathed in dramatic dim blue light especially for the exhibit.  \u003cbr/\u003eExhibit designers have placed some of the artifacts inside replica sections of the Titanic, including the ship's first-class Grand Staircase. \u003cbr/\u003eThey've also hired actors to work with the show, who roam the exhibit greeting visitors as if they were passengers on Titanic's fateful journey. \u003cbr/\u003eThe exhibit is produced by RMS Titanic, Incorporated. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Atlanta Georgia-based firm has backed six salvage and recovery dives on the Titanic wreck site since 1987, the last in 2000.\u003cbr/\u003eRMS Titanic worked with the French Oceanographic Institute and Moscow-based P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology in the recovery effort. \u003cbr/\u003eThree mini-subs were used in the joint effort, diving more than two miles below the ocean surface to the wreck site.
