three weeks of devastating airstrikes, after Israeli warplanes pounded dozens of suspected smuggling tunnels.\u003cbr/\u003eThousands of Gazans have been made homeless by the conflict, forced to flee as Israeli warplanes shelled their homes.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the West Bank, Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad told a news conference that the Israeli offensive in Gaza had left behind a \"humanitarian crisis of unprecedented magnitude.\" \u003cbr/\u003eFayyad made the statement following a weekly cabinet meeting where he was briefed on the latest figures for dead, injured and displaced Palestinians since the military offensive began. \u003cbr/\u003eIn an initial indication of damage, Gaza municipal officials said a first count showed some 20-thousand residential and Israel's air and ground onslaught, more than half of them civilians, and amongst them scores of children, according to the United Nations, Gaza health officials and rights groups.
