Members hand out leaflets\u003cbr/\u003eA host of small parties will contest this Sunday's general election in Cambodia, among them one that promotes the rights of women. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Khmer Women's Party (KWP) is fielding candidates in almost half of the 123 seats available. \u003cbr/\u003eIts manifesto calls for equality for women and more female MPs (members of parliament), arguing that it will lead to more socially aware policies, and less domestic violence.\u003cbr/\u003eThe KWP was started five years ago by mother of seven, Nuon Bunna - the party contested the 1998 general election in six provinces, winning four thousand votes. \u003cbr/\u003eIn Cambodia 6.3 (M) million people are eligible to vote.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking of the upcoming elections, Bunna said the KWP is proud to take part even if it doens't win any votes.  She said \"it gives a chance for women to really enjoy true liberal democracy, respect for human rights and development\".\u003cbr/\u003eThe KWP will stand candidates in ten provinces on Sunday and hopes to get up to forty-thousand votes, but electioneering is an expensive process.\u003cbr/\u003eThe rules require the KWP to put up a four thousand US dollar deposit with the Treasury, but if it fails to get a seat or at least three per cent of the vote, the money will not be refunded.\u003cbr/\u003eOther expenses include printing costs and transporting volunteers around the provinces, and so far the KWP has spent about ten-thousand US dollars. \u003cbr/\u003eWomen play a vital economic role in Cambodia, and make up the majority of the workforce in the garment industry, the country's biggest money earner, but their prominence is not reflected in the National Assembly, where only 10 MP's are female.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the 1998 election, five political parties had women leaders, but in 2003 only the KWP is led by a woman.  \u003cbr/\u003eSunday's election is expected to be a three-way fight between the Cambodian People's Party of Prime Minister Hun Sen, the royalist party
