Wide of Casquinha practising his hand and body movements in the park\u003cbr/\u003eDozens of European bullfighters, who have seen their dreams of practising their trade in the old world fade, are crossing the Atlantic to entertain remote towns in the Peruvian Andes.\u003cbr/\u003eThe small towns may only have ramshackle bullfighting rings but the spirit of the sport is more alive than ever.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of those who has made the move to the new world is Spanish bullfighter, Francisco Torres Jerez, who hails from the southern region of Almeria.\u003cbr/\u003e\"In Spain right now, for a bullfighter, the situation is, we say, at a second level, the capacity of the festivals is very complicated because they are decreasing, in the sense that they are reducing the festivities and the truth is that this is harmful to us,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eJerez has been contracted to perform in four bullfights in four rural villages in the Andes, one of which is in the village of Lachaqui, which sits nearly four thousand metres (13,123 feet) up in the mountains.\u003cbr/\u003eDecked out in traditional colourful and glittering attire, Jerez dazzles spectators at the simple bullfighting ring, eliciting gasps and cheers from the crowd.\u003cbr/\u003eThe migration of the bullfighters has increased as a result of the economic crisis in Europe and changing tastes toward the traditional blood-sport. \u003cbr/\u003eSince 2008, 50 percent of bullfighting festivals have been cancelled across Spain, Portugal and the south of France.\u003cbr/\u003eSome 2,000 fights are still held yearly in Spain although crowd attendances have fallen drastically.\u003cbr/\u003ePortuguese bullfighter Nuno Casquinha is another of those who travelled to Peru.\u003cbr/\u003eHe practises diligently in a park in Lima, the country's capital, moving his red cape gracefully and theatrically as he simulates a bullfight. \u003cbr/\u003eWhen the trim, blue-eyed Casquinha left home early last year, Spain had 765 registered bullfighters competing in the fights, known as \"corridas.\" \u003cbr/\u003eHe'd only managed to get into one bullfight in the first four months of last year, spending his time instead raising bulls on his parents' farm and training in the family's basement. \u003cbr/\u003eThe 27-year-old matador said his friends had encouraged him to move to the Andean country because he would have a better shot at performing in bullfights.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Peru is the country that hosts the most bullfights per year.  And they also welcome and embrace foreigners,\" Casquinha said. \u003cbr/\u003eThe pay, however, is modest. \u003cbr/\u003e\"It's not that you'll be earning a lot of money because you don't get to make a lot of money but you make a reasonable living from it,\" Casquinha said, speaking at one of his daily two-hour training sessions. \u003cbr/\u003eSpain remains divided over bullfighting. \u003cbr/\u003eThe ruling Popular Party wants to enshrine it as part of Spain's national heritage, but some regional governments have enacted bans.\u003cbr/\u003eSpain's parliament has been debating
