the extent that I have had to recognise my incapacity to adequately fulfil the ministry entrusted to me.\"\u003cbr/\u003eWith bishops forced to submit their resignation as the age of 75 and cardinals over 80 barred from voting in a conclave to elect a new pope, the first papal resignation in more than 500 years could help set a modern-day precedent to help keep aged and infirm popes from
