for roofs may have many environmental advantages. \u003cbr/\u003eWalk though any town or village in the Faroe Islands and it will be hard not to notice the green grass roofed houses on every street. \u003cbr/\u003eHistorians believe that grass roofs were introduced into the Faroe Islands by the Vikings. \u003cbr/\u003eJohn Eysturoy, local historian and Faroe Islands Enterprise Guide, says because of the lack of natural building resources on the Islands the Vikings used Grass on their roofs to provide stability and extra installation. \u003cbr/\u003eEysturoy says young people on they islands continue to build their houses with traditional grass roofs, not only because they want to continue the age-old tradition, but also because there are many environmental advantages. \u003cbr/\u003eGrass roofs filter pollutants and CO2 out of the air. \u003cbr/\u003eGreen roofs (grass roofs) can deliver enormous benefits. \u003cbr/\u003eSeagord Yore, Grass Roof Structural Engineer and Architect says having a grass roof is a way for people on the islands to take responsibility for the environment. \u003cbr/\u003eYore says if a house has 150 square meters of grass roofing, the grass will produce enough oxygen for one person per day. \u003cbr/\u003eJacob Mittyord, house owner and builder, has incorporated a grass roof onto his new build house design. \u003cbr/\u003eMittyord says he used grass on his roof because he wanted to continue the old Faroese tradition. \u003cbr/\u003eEivor Ellensgard, Grass roof customer says he also used grass on his new roof as it provided extra insulation which helps to keep the warmth in during long winters. \u003cbr/\u003eOn the 25 December, 2007,  US President Bill Clinton, spoke on the effects of Climate change at the annual
