Various of Jedward posing with kids\u003cbr/\u003eFormer \"X Factor\" contestants, John and Edward Grimes, better know as Jedward, were in London Tuesday (5 JUL.) to launch a new initiative to get the U.K.'s children fit and healthy.\u003cbr/\u003eThe initiative, called Startrack, hopes to get kids active this summer in the run up to the 2012 Olympics. \u003cbr/\u003eStartrack is UKA's (the national governing body for UK athletics) flagship grassroots athletics programme. \u003cbr/\u003eThe nationwide initiative will give the opportunity for children, aged 8-15, of all backgrounds and abilities, to try athletics free of charge. \u003cbr/\u003eFor Jedward, getting involved with Startrack was a no brainer. The twins are both big athletics fans and were involved in cross-country racing before embracing showbiz.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Basically me and John, we used to run 50 miles a week, we used to do cross-country, 1500 meters, 800 meters,\" said Edward.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It's so great to get involved with this because we used to do athletics so much - all our life we did it,\" added John.\u003cbr/\u003eBefore the twins found stardom appearing on the 2009 U.K. series of \"The X Factor\", the pair were tipped by their running coach to make the Irish national athletics team.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The reason why me and Edward got involved in this campaign is because we used to do running ourselves, we used to do so much athletics and we still run as well. But we were training for the Olympics 2012 two and a half years ago, so it's really really exciting for me and Ed to be here with all these kids,\" explained John.\u003cbr/\u003e400 meters athlete
