population is now 137 (m)million - putting the country on track to surpass the USA in 2008 as the nation with the most Internet users, according to Chinese government figures.\u003cbr/\u003eBut how to online.\u003cbr/\u003eThe internet is not only popular with the nation's city-dwellers, it has penetrated the country's rural areas too, where at least 70% of the Chinese population live. \u003cbr/\u003eA number of local governments in the countryside have set up internet learning centres, or E-learning centres, aiming to acquainted farmers with basic knowledge about computing and going online.\u003cbr/\u003eFor the first time a number of farmers are now in touch with the outside world, bringing the market economy to these hinterlands.\u003cbr/\u003eFarmers can also find out about new agricultural products and updated market information.\u003cbr/\u003eThe government's decision to ban the opening of more internet cafes came after China's online population reached 137 (m)million, an increase of 23.4 percent year-on-year. \u003cbr/\u003eThe number is 10 percent of China's 1.3 (b)billion population, according to the China Internet Network Information Centre (CNNIC), the country's chief internet regulator.\u003cbr/\u003eThe figure puts China on track to surpass the USA in 2008 as the nation with the most Internet users.\u003cbr/\u003eWang Enhai, the assistant director of CNNIC, says people need guidance in how to get the best out of the Internet.\u003cbr/\u003eOverall, the government promotes internet use for education and business, but tries to block the
