Sotomayor's Supreme Court confirmation hearings. \u003cbr/\u003eSeveral members of the department made their first appearance at the hearings Wednesday. \u003cbr/\u003eTheir role in the proceedings comes as a result of Sotomayor's decision in a reverse discrimination case. \u003cbr/\u003eSotomayor was part of a three-judge panel that rejected one of the firefighter's claims of discrimination after the city of New Haven threw out the results of a promotion exam because too few minorities did well. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Supreme Court recently overturned Sotomayor's decision, leading some to call her judgement into question.\u003cbr/\u003eJohn Cornyn/R-Texas\u003cbr/\u003e\"As a former judge myself, I was shocked to see the sort of treatment you and a three judge panel gave to the claims
