harvest their organs and incinerate their bodies.\u003cbr/\u003eOfficials of the Liaoning Thrombosis Treatment Centre in the northeastern city of Shenyang said Wednesday the institution lacked the required facilities to conduct organ transplants, an incinerator or a basement.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Falun Gong supporters say organs have been taken from as many as 6,000 detainees held there.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The so called \"concentration camp\" and \"organ transplants\" are a total fabrication,\" said Zhang Yuqin, the hospital''s deputy director, in a rare meeting with reporters that was convened by China''s Cabinet press office to address the sensitive issue.\u003cbr/\u003eZheng Bing, an official of the Sujiatun district in Shenyang where the hospital is located, said the area had some Falun Gong followers but added that none were in detention.\u003cbr/\u003eShe said, \"These lies are not only defaming the city of Shenyang and the District of Sujiatun, but also defaming Liaoning Province and our whole nation.\"\u003cbr/\u003eFalun Gong attracted millions of followers in the 1990s with its mix of traditional Chinese beliefs and slow-motion exercise. \u003cbr/\u003eIt was banned in 1999 as a threat to public order and communist rule, and thousands of practitioners were detained.\u003cbr/\u003eThe government says some Falun Gong followers have died in detention due to hunger strikes or refusing medical help. \u003cbr/\u003eBut it denies that any have been intentionally killed.\u003cbr/\u003eChinese officials said a US diplomat visited the hospital on 22 March, claiming to be interested in traditional Chinese treatments for thrombosis, and was given a full tour of the facility.\u003cbr/\u003eA spokeswoman for the US Embassy in Beijing
