of celebrations of her award.\u003cbr/\u003eEbadi, the first Iranian to win the honour, was greeted at Oslo's airport by representatives of the Norwegian Nobel Committee that decides the award.       \u003cbr/\u003eThe 56-year-old activist, attorney and writer won the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize for her work fighting for democracy and the rights of women and children. \u003cbr/\u003eShe was Iran's first female judge, and was jailed briefly in 2000 on charges of slandering government officials.\u003cbr/\u003eThe decision to award the prize to Ebadi was widely interpreted as a message to the entire Islamic world to work for expanded human and political rights. \u003cbr/\u003eThe prize, however, met mixed receptions in Iran, where reformers praised it as \"a boost to democratic reforms,\" while hard-liners denounced it. \u003cbr/\u003eIn Norway reaction to the award was also mixed. \u003cbr/\u003eSome Iranian Norwegians gathered outside parliament to welcome it, whilst outside the Nobel Institute other pro-democracy supporters demonstrated against Ebadi for giving credence to the Iranian government.\u003cbr/\u003eLast  month, the laureate was assigned police body guards in Iran after receiving daily death threats since the award was announced in October.\u003cbr/\u003eEbadi has demanded that Iran's leaders free all political prisoners, including journalists and activists jailed for allegedly insulting the hard-line authorities. \u003cbr/\u003eEbadi began defending jailed journalists and activists as Iranian authorities clamped down on dissent following the 1997 election of pro-reform President Mohammad Khatami.\u003cbr/\u003eThe peace prize, which includes a gold medal, a diploma and a 1.36 (m) million (US) dollar cash award, will be presented at a gala ceremony at the Oslo City Hall on Wednesday. \u003cbr/\u003eThat is to be followed by a torch light parade and a banquet in the laureate's honor.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Thursday, Ebadi is to meet top Norwegian officials, and attend an evening concert in her honour.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Nobel Prizes are always presented on December 10, the anniversary of the death of their creator, Swedish
