Police convoy with prisoner driving away from court \u003cbr/\u003eA military court condemned a Jordanian-American to death Monday for plotting terror attacks against American and Israeli tourists during Jordan's millennium celebrations.\u003cbr/\u003eRaed Hijazi was convicted of nine charges, including possessing arms and explosives and conspiring to detonate bombs at sites frequented by U-S and Israeli tourists during the millennium celebrations in Jordan.\u003cbr/\u003eHe had pleaded innocent to the charges.\u003cbr/\u003eThe court acquitted Hijazi of belonging to an illegal organisation, which although it was never named in court is known to have been al-Qaida.\u003cbr/\u003eBefore the sentencing on Monday, the judge said there was no evidence that the illegal organisation had a formal structure or membership in Jordan.\u003cbr/\u003eJordanian officials said Hijazi had confessed to planning terrorist attacks using deadly gas against American and Israeli tourists.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the confession, he also admitted that he received bomb-making training in Afghan guerrilla camps run by Osama bin Laden.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Hijazi told the court his confession had been extracted under duress.\u003cbr/\u003eHe claimed he had no links with bin Laden and that he didn't plot terrorist attacks in Jordan or plan to harm Israelis because to do so would
