We selected a gorilla because we had the first gorilla in captivity in the UK back in the 1930s, he was called Alfred and he''s really famous in Bristol. These models are actually based on our current Silverback gorilla called Jock who''s lived in the zoo for the past few years.\"\u003cbr/\u003e11. Tracking shot of gorilla models \u003cbr/\u003eTourists flocking to the River Thames in London on Friday got a rather unusual view for their holiday photographs.\u003cbr/\u003eAn army of 20 life-sized, individually decorated model gorillas were unveiled - including an Elvis and Spiderman.\u003cbr/\u003eThey are part of a 60-strong group and are designed to raise awareness of the plight of the gorilla.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The thing is, there''s very few gorillas left in the wild because of habitat destruction, chopping down of forests and indeed the bush meat trade, there are less and less gorillas every year,\" said Piers Gibbon, television presenter and jungle expert, at the launch. \u003cbr/\u003e\"But, hope is not lost.
