B-Class sales rose 140 percent there last year.\u003cbr/\u003eFiat, which controls a majority of Chrysler LLC, is showing off the third generation of its hot-selling Panda city car. \u003cbr/\u003eThe new Panda will be slightly longer, with a more rounded shape than its predecessors, which have sold 6.5 million cars since the model launched in 1980.\u003cbr/\u003eBMW has brought six new models to Frankfurt including the world premiere of its new 1 Series.\u003cbr/\u003eThe new 1 Series features extra legroom and improved driving comfort but retains its trademark rear-wheel drive.\u003cbr/\u003eMore interesting from the German manufacturer is its new pure electric vehicle, the i3 - BMW''s first completely electric production car. \u003cbr/\u003eThe i3 compact saves weight by using carbon fibre-reinforced plastic, boosting not only range but performance; it goes from 0-100 kph, or 0-62 mph, in under eight seconds, driven by a 167-horsepower electric motor.\u003cbr/\u003eCarbon fibre is strong and light, but so expensive it has so far been confined to high-end sports cars. \u003cbr/\u003eIts use to reinforce plastic is a key technological advance toward making electric cars more practical, making room for heavy batteries and extending the car''s range.\u003cbr/\u003eBMW says it will also offer a version with an accompanying gasoline engine that could recharge the battery, extending the car''s driving range.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough the i3 and its companion sports car, the i8, are still technically concept cars, the company has said they are going on sale in 2013.\u003cbr/\u003eJeep is not a manufacturer known for its green credentials. In fact, the entire four-wheel drive, off-road sector is often seen as the bete noir of the environmental lobby.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, showing off its new Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models, Jeep says it is listening to what today''s motorists are looking for - including better fuel economy.\u003cbr/\u003eJoe Vetri, head of Jeep Europe says: \"We have evolved we have always been known and still are known for our great four wheel drive capability. houses a 4.5 litre V8 engine putting out 562bhp at a howling 9,000rpm. \u003cbr/\u003eThis motor is good for a top speed of 199mph and with a scorching 0-62mph time of under 3.4 seconds.\u003cbr/\u003eThe retractable aluminium roof - a first for a mid-engined sports car - fits snugly in the engine compartment in just 14 seconds and - once tucked away - won''t interfere with
