Its a  wonderful time.\\\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe theme of the whole inauguration this year is \\\"An American Journey\\\" ...and all of the  events and performances were designed to represent various aspects of American life.\u003cbr/\u003eBut there was plenty going on even for those who have trouble sitting still.\u003cbr/\u003eThis tent housed the Technology Playground, which offered a hands-on look at cutting- edge technology and virtual reality.\u003cbr/\u003eInternet browsers even had the opportunity to e-mail President Clinton and Vice  President Al Gore.\u003cbr/\u003eGore, by the way, known to be a science and technology guru, couldn't stay away from  the Technology tent.\u003cbr/\u003eHe made a special appearance there to see the exhibits and shake a few hands.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\\\"Fantastic...I think there's a lot of excitement here...the technologies are very  interesting.\\\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Vice President Al Gore\u003cbr/\u003eThis NASA exhibit was one of the hot features of the Technology tent.\u003cbr/\u003eThis infrared camera shows how temperatures can differ vastly on various parts of the  body.\u003cbr/\u003eIf your neck was covered by a warm scarf, your neck would appear red, while your cold  nose would come out blue. \u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\\\"The different colours of the infrared cameras tell you the different temperature  intensities. The green is not as cold. The blue areas are the coldest areas in my face,  so that's my cheeks, my nose and my lip areas.\\\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Marcie Swilley/NASA \u003cbr/\u003eBut the National Mall area isn't the only hopping spot this Inaugural weekend.\u003cbr/\u003eThe hundreds of thousands of guests in town are keeping the hotels and restaurants  around the area hustling.\u003cbr/\u003eMany, like the famous Willard Inter-Continental Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue are  gearing up for a huge crowd Inauguration Day.\u003cbr/\u003eThe historic hotel is one of the most sought after spots to watch the Inaugural parade,  which marches right out on Pennsylvania Avenue.\u003cbr/\u003eThroughout American history, inaugural parades from Abraham Lincoln's to Woodrow  Wilson's have been viewed exquisitely from this hotel.\u003cbr/\u003eIn 1860, Abraham Lincoln actually watched his own inaugural parade from this  presidential suite, on the 6th floor of the hotel.\u003cbr/\u003eEvery American President since Franklin Pierce in 1850 has stayed in the Willard  Hotel, which has been dubbed \\\"the Residence of Presidents.\\\"  \u003cbr/\u003eBut don't dare ask how much the Presidential suite, or any room that overlooks the  inaugural parade will cost....because the hotel won't tell.\u003cbr/\u003eMany of those rooms were booked four years ago...at Clinton's last inauguration.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd come Saturday evening, they were the perfect place to be to see the huge  fireworks display over Capitol Hill.\u003cbr/\u003eBut despite the freezing cold weather, thousands of Americans still assembled at the  Mall to watch the fireworks display, which was set off from 10 different locations at  dusk.\u003cbr/\u003eWashington, DC, USA,  January 15 and 18, 1997\u003cbr/\u003eJanuary 18 1997:\u003cbr/\u003e1.
