Pan right twins
The number of twins born in the U.S. has soared over the last three decades.
One in every thirty babies born there is a twin, mostly the result of test-tube babies and women waiting to have children until their 30s.
Double the joy or double the trouble... either way twins are on the rise in the United States according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report.
The number of twin births has risen dramatically in the last three decades, due to both delayed childbirth and the use of fertility treatments.
One in 30 babies born in 2009 was a twin, up from one in 53 babies in 1980.
The twin birth rate rose about 100 percent for women aged 35-39 and more than 200 percent for women over 40.
Raising two children of the same age is very different from raising one at a time, with some pros and some cons, parents explain.
San Francisco parents Judy and Brent used a fertility treatment to conceive their five-year-old son and daughter, who are fraternal twins.
