\u003cbr/\u003eIn a country were the Islamic government has started introducing new dress-codes to be considered as national clothing for women, fashion designers hope the latest clothing lines will help preserve and strengthen Iranian-Islamic culture.\u003cbr/\u003eTheir aim is to introduce a new dimension to women's fashion in Iran.\u003cbr/\u003eSince the Iranian Revolution in 1979, the Islamic regime has required all women to wear the Hijab(Islamic dress codes) in public, however the lack of inspiring domestic clothing designs has made women, especially young girls, turn to western styles of clothing. \u003cbr/\u003eMany young girls in Iran believe that they cannot find diverse dress designs in shops. \u003cbr/\u003eAs the current Iranian tailored garments do not meet their needs they feel that they have no choice but to turn to Western designs.\u003cbr/\u003eIranian dress designers have focused their work on designing different manteaus (a French word referring to a kind of uniform that covers the upper body) as an alternative for the head-to-toe covering of black chador. \u003cbr/\u003eHowever, the Islamic government has banned the wearing of some of these manteaus as they consider the shorter length, tightness and lively colours unsuitable.\u003cbr/\u003eThe second Iranian-Islamic women fashion show was held in Tehran,in January 2007. \u003cbr/\u003eFarahnaz Ghand Foroush, a top advisor to the Iranian Interior Minister for women's affairs Mostafa Pour Mohammadi, who was the director of the show, believes that while women are under pressure to observe the Islamic clothing code, they also have the right to be offered alternative designs. \u003cbr/\u003eIn spite of the fact that most of the Islamic Republic officials' cultural endeavours have been aimed at advertising the Islamic lifestyle including Islamic clothing, it seems that they have failed in this regard with the younger generation.\u003cbr/\u003eMany young Iranian girls complain that when they go dress shopping, it is quite difficult to find casual clothing which is beautiful and at the same time meets Islamic standards. \u003cbr/\u003eSamira Khoshroo, a Tehran resident,  believes if women are offered more exciting and attractive designs, they will surely purchase them rather than buying dresses that originate from Western countries. \u003cbr/\u003eAround the early summer of 2006, a time when the Islamic government cracked down on women's covering during the hot summer, the Iranian Ministry of Culture and the Police Department opened an exhibition in Tehran.\u003cbr/\u003eThe show was aimed at presenting  newer Islamic fashion designs as well as Iran's traditional clothes to women and girls. \u003cbr/\u003eDifferent Islamic dress designers were invited to display their latest designs.\u003cbr/\u003eAfsaneh Roshangar, a prominent dress designer, considers it vital to introduce original Iranian designs because it is necessary to show the world that Iran has an ancient civilisation in its background. \u003cbr/\u003eNahid, a female visitor to the exhibition, said that she was proud of Hijab (Islamic dress code) and that Iranian women had been trying to protect this as a virtue throughout their history. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Iranian government is currently looking at introducing new Islamic dress-codes for
